What do you want?
No matter the occasion, events take planning. Enter: “Uplift Events.” I couldn’t decide which one I loved more so I specialize in both business and personal events. I thrive on taking the big pile of details and putting them where they belong. It’s balancing the flow with all the important aspects that make the event yours and then “trimming the fat” to produce a seamless and impactful occasion. I always start with this question: “What do you want?” - What is the end goal of your event? When you are planning - it is critical to keep this as your guiding light. For businesses, it could be to set attainable goals for growth or establish a solid mission statement. For a family reunion, it could be to honor your heritage while promoting a lasting family bond. Anything that distracts from this is not allowed in. This post is going to focus on what this process looks like for weddings. Tis the season!
So, what do you want? For most, when you set aside all the fanfare, the goal is simple: to get married! That goes without saying. But let’s develop it beyond that. Your goal may be to celebrate with those closest to you in a sentimental way, or to have the most epic party anyone has ever seen, or to get iconic documentation that you can enjoy for years to come. Your wedding is one of the biggest, most important milestones in your life. It celebrates the sacred institution of marriage and is a reflection of who you are as a couple. There are big details and special touches. There are fun parts and not so fun parts. And there are undoubtedly all the little things that you didn’t think of or account for in your budget. Like the custom seating chart with color printed namecards for each guest, having back up tents just in case it rains, extra delivery charges to get to your idyllic (but remote) venue, accommodating your guests dietary restrictions, needing one more bar tender when your guest count sneaks up to 200 (when your originally planned for 120…) Do you want to have programs? Guest Favors? Midnight snacks to keep the party going? The list could go on and on. And it usually does! It is 6 to 12 months of identifying all the pieces, deciding which ones you want and making sure they all get along. And when the day comes, wouldn’t it be great if you could be truly present? To feel the joy in accomplishing your goal?
The average wedding in Spokane uses at least 14-15 different vendors. Photography, videography, catering, bar tender, venue, floral, DJ, photobooth, hair, makeup, transportation, clothing, event rentals, event design, event planner/coordinator… That last one is who brings everyone together.
When I am planning a wedding with my clients a large portion of what I do is logistics. I prepare a comprehensive planning dashboard to effectively manage all the moving parts needed to accomplish your goal. There is a master document that includes all your vendors, budget tracker, detailed timeline, vision board and all the hopes and dreams you have for your big day.
I am here to guide and support you through the planning process so that, not only do you accomplish your goal, but you enjoy doing it.
